If you're using two separate consoles in the same home, it is possible for a single Xbox Live Gold subscription to cover two accounts. Let's call your consoles Xbox A and Xbox B, and your kids are also A and B. Let's say Kid A has the Xbox Live Gold subscription on their account.

Now, for this to work, Kid A would set Xbox B as their account's Home Xbox. Then, Kid A would sign into Xbox A and play their games. With the Home Xbox setting in this manner, Kid B could sign onto Xbox B and access everything connected to Kid A's account, including their Gold subscription.

To your specific questions each user will need their own separate Microsoft account (which they apparently already have) connected to their own separate Epic account. The Gold account only enables multiplayer access, which is required on Xbox platforms, and does not govern how the Epic account works or connects. With each child having their own account, each has their own game saves and content saves, and those game saves are stored in the Xbox Cloud. If they do go to another console (you upgrade consoles at home, or if they visit a friend) their progress and content stays with them as soon as they sign in.

You cannot link each epic account to just one account, they have to be linked to the individual child account for it to work.

All saves save to the cloud, so if you replace a console, the saves will still be there when you log on and play the game on the new one.

Thanks so much- I guess my confusion is with Epic. How does Epic know which console I am trying to link to which account? When I sign into my Microsoft Account, even though there are two separate child accounts, there is no way to designate each console- so how does Epic know which console I am "linking"?

Thanks Stuart - I am trying to figure out how to potentially link twi different consoles into each child account, which exists under my one microsoft account (if that makes sense) - the child accounts are family accounts under my sign in, but Epic doesn't seem to have anyway for me to specify.

Hey Vincent,

Were you ever able to create Epic accounts linked to your xbox children accounts? I'm not having the exact same technical issue but I am having the exact same "support" experience you are. Lets just say its truly Epic. In my case I'm only trying link one nameless account created under an Xbox child account to a new Epic account. I'm able to get all the way to the point where it finds my child's Xbox nameless Fortnite account but after entering all the required information and clicking create I'm simply returned to the main Epic login screen. Entering the credentials I just created (or thought I did) return an "credentials you are using are invalid" message.

Hi Erik-

I am still being bounced around between "customer service" representatives. Thus far there is still absolutely no solution. It's been an absolutely awful experience. To me, this should be a simple fix. There is a reason this company has an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau. Keep us posted on your progress and thanks for sharing.

I suspect that the only way these things would be truly addressed and corrected is if Epic started losing players and families in droves. If it hit their wallet you would see quick fixes to all of it. Sad.

hi

is it possible to go to the epic games website and create an epic games account, login with that account on the site and then go into that account and then link that to one of the xbox accounts thats a child account? does the child account not have their own email address and password? if not then the only way i can think of is to change it so their accounts have their own email address and password so that it can be linked to an epic games account.

I'm not 100% sure because I dislike Fortnite and all them, but when I had been playing it, it would give me the option on their website to sign in with my xbox account rather than an epic ID so I would try to do that and see if it works for you. If it does, then you can probably manage to do what you could without the regular account. If that doesn't work, you could try making an account and then going to the connections tab and adding the Xbox connection by signing in with said accounts.

Hi there

I believe if you head to the epic website to sign in you can create an epic account using the Microsoft account for each child's xbox account.

Once you sign in and click on accounts, there should be a 'connected accounts' you'll be able to select to connect the xbox account.

Epic home

Im sorry if my explanation is not good.

Appreciate the ideas from everyone. Unfortunately I've tried all the these with no success.

According to Epic my son's fortnite account is a "nameless" account so instead of creating a regular epic account i need to promote that account to a full account. When you go to their website login page there are buttons for the different gaming platforms. I've gone though the Xbox setup one and are told it has found my son's Xbox fortnite account. However after running through the setup process nothing happens. The login i just created is said to be invalid.

Having said that I've also tried going the other way. Set up a regular Epic using a completely different email address then assign the Xbox account to that. Doing so I get anb error that the Xbox account is already assigned to an epic account.

Truly frustrating...

Erik
